Hollywood DE Nelson commits to Bulls
USF's huge recruiting weekend, with key official visits built around the team's postseason banquet, has produced its first commitment, as defensive end Clavion Nelson of Hollywood South Broward accepted an offer to play for the Bulls in 2011.
Nelson, 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, totaled 14.5 sacks as a senior and said he chose the Bulls over Illinois and Kansas.
"I'm done. I'm completely a Bull," Nelson said via email, confirming he will not take any additional visits.
Nelson, rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, is the first true defensive end in USF's incoming class, though some of the high school linebackers could wind up playing at defensive end at the college level. His host on the visit was freshman linebacker Hans Louis, also from Hollywood, and Nelson said his decision was clinched when he saw how close the team was during his visit.
Here's a good writeup on Nelson from the Miami Herald. We'll have more recruiting news later today and tonight -- as we've mentioned, it's believed USF went into the weekend with four or five remaining scholarships in play.
