Hoops tonight: Ajayi living his college dream
You know it's the afternoon of a USF men's basketball game when I start seeing comments about the lack of basketball on the blog. As usual, there's coverage, I just haven't linked to it here. For stories in the paper, you guys can always -- check that, you can often -- check our Bulls page at bulls.tampabay.com.
Today, for instance, there's a front-page story on power forward B.J. Ajayi, who grew up in Nigeria and has taken a long path to USF, from a tiny NAIA school in Tennessee to junior college to starting in the Big East. Ajayi, by the way, told me he has a fourth name -- beyond Mobolaji Ebenezer Ajayi -- but that he only reveals that to people who are very close to him. So now I'm intrigued.
We also lead the weekly notes with Stan Heath's daily battle against accepting losses, and how Ken Eriksen's softball team will have to go without three key veterans who will take medical redshirts this season due to lingering injuries. We also had a capsule to advance the game, but those never seem to make it online. Sorry, I mean to say that those are exclusively available to our print subscribers. Yeah, that sounds better.
I'll blog live from tonight's home game against Syracuse, which will have nine (9) NBA scouts in attendance to see Kentrell Gransberry and Syracuse's fab freshmen, Donte Greene and Jonny Flynn.
