Hoops: USF men, women cruise to easy wins
USF's men's and women's basketball teams had an easy time Saturday, emptying their benches in lopsided wins against San Francisco and N.C. Central, respectively.
Stan Heath's men's team equaled their win total for all of last season, improving to 9-2 with a 69-49 win against the other USF in Las Vegas. Dominique Jones hit five 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 23 points, and center Jarrid Famous had his second straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jose Fernandez's women's team had an even easier time with N.C. Central, dropping them to 0-9 with a 79-37 win in the Sun Dome. USF (8-3) bounced back from a loss to Tulane, led by a strong game from forward Melissa Dalembert, who had 16 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Sequoyah Griffin matched her with 16 points, hitting four of USF's 10 3-pointers. The Bulls have more of a challenge Sunday against East Carolina (9-1).
