Injury update: Butler, Dixon held out of spring
With spring practice starting this afternoon, USF has released its first injury update of the year, with news that cornerbacks Ricardo Dixon and Tyson Butler will be held out of drills with injuries, along with receiver Jason Sherman and walk-on defensive end Cody Durakovic.
As expected, USF's release says quarterback B.J. Daniels will be limited at the start of practice as he recovers from surgery on his non-throwing shoulder; running back Aston Samuels and center Sampson Genus are also limited, though their injuries were not disclosed.
Dixon, expected to compete for a second-string position, had surgery on his shoulder this spring, according to his high school coach, and it's the opposite shoulder from the one he had surgery on before his freshman year. Butler missed the final five games of last season with a knee injury, and Sherman suffered a torn Achilles tendon during a practice in December.
