Irish, UConn bookend USF women's Big East slate

There's no shortage of high-profile basketball teams coming to the Sun Dome this coming season, and USF's women's team learned the dates for its Big East schedule, which opens with national runner-up Notre Dame and closes with UConn on the final weekend of the regular season.

The Bulls, hoping to contend for an NCAA Tournament berth after going 19-16 last season, have the league's top three teams from last year all playing in the Sun Dome -- first, the Fighting Irish on Jan. 6, with UConn closing the home schedule on March 2 and St. John's coming to Tampa on Feb. 12.

That Feb. 12 game will be shown on CBS Sports Network, one of three televised games, all at home, for the Bulls -- the Jan. 26 game against Marquette and Feb. 23 game against Syracuse will be shown as part of the Big East's Game of the Week package.

USF closes with a tough stretch of three games -- at Rutgers on Feb. 26, then the home date against UConn and two days later, a game at Georgetown, which finished the season ranked with 23 wins.

Here's the full Big East schedule: January -- 6 vs. Notre Dame, 12 at DePaul, 15 vs. Cincinnati, 19 at Villanova, 22 at Seton Hall, 26 vs. Marquette, 30 vs. Louisville. February -- 3 at Pittsburgh, 9 at Providence, 12 vs. St. John's, 16 vs. Seton Hall, 20 at Louisville, 23 vs. Syracuse, 26 at Rutgers. March -- 2 vs. UConn, 4 at Georgetown.
