Jones to make Mavs debut in summer league
Former USF guard Dominique Jones will make his Dallas Mavericks debut this afternoon as the first-round pick takes the court in Las Vegas with his new team for an NBA summer league game at 4 p.m. ET against Denver.
The Dallas Morning News writes that the priority in summer league is seeing how Jones and second-year pro Roddy Beaubois can mesh on the court -- the two have similar games, but Beaubois will play point guard in Vegas, with Jones working as a shooting guard.
Bulls fans can track Jones' debut at NBA.com, which has a live scoreboard and, for a price, live video from all games in Las Vegas and Orlando.
-- Forgot to link to this the other day, but ESPN.com's Eamonn Brennan asks in the wake of Stan Heath's new contract if the Bulls can take the next step and find continued success without Jones.
-- Found it interesting that Larry Harrison, Bob Huggins' associate head coach at West Virginia, has a Master's degree from USF and coached briefly in Tampa in the mid-1980s.
-- We mentioned Huey Whittaker's Arena football success the other day, and the Times' Hernando edition has a feature on Whittaker's football travels.
