Juco corner Willis to meet with Holtz on Thursday
Junior college cornerback Nate Willis, who made an unofficial visit to USF last week, will be driving back up to Tampa on Thursday to meet with head coach Skip Holtz and could become the next commitment in the Bulls' 2013 recruiting class.
"If everything goes well tomorrow, I may commit," said Willis, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound corner who will be a sophomore this fall at Arizona Western College.
Willis played two years at Glades Central, then transferred to Pahokee, where he played basketball his final two years. He's good friends with USF receiver Chris Dunkley from his Pahokee days, and played last season alongside current Bulls corner Josh Brown, so there's plenty of familiarity in Tampa. He said there's a 90 percent chance he'll be able to graduate from Arizona Western in December and enroll for the spring semester.
Willis, rated as a three-star recruit by Scout.com, said his top contenders aside from USF are Arizona State, Ole Miss and Iowa State; he returns to Arizona for the fall on Tuesday. USF already has two corners committed for 2013 in Jacksonville's Darius Whitty and Moultria (Ga.) standout Johnny Ward, and the Bulls told Willis they intend to sign three cornerbacks for the 2013 class.
