Kentucky gets two in RB Kemp, WR Badet
Kentucky and new coach Mark Stoops picked up a pair of former USF commitments on Friday night, as DeLand RB JoJo Kemp and Orlando Freedom WR Jeff Badet both announced they'll play for the Wildcats and the former FSU assistant.
USF had still hoped to get Kemp, who had the Bulls among his final four options; Badet had also been committed to USF but had moved on to other schools. With Kemp out of the picture, the question now is whether USF will make a new offer to another running back, such as Miami Northwestern's Darius Tice, who just visited the Bulls; another potential backup option, Seminole Ridge's Silas Spearman, who had hoped for a USF offer, committed to Florida International on Friday.
Running back is a key priority in USF's recruiting class, and the Bulls have one commitment, from Kissimmee Osceola's Stafon McCray. Stay tuned for updates as the Bulls decide whether to bring in another back now that Kemp is off the board.
Expect Kentucky to be a regular recruiting rival to USF on Florida kids -- Stoops, who was part of USF's original coaching staff in 1996, has a strong staff of Florida recruiters.
USF lost out on another recruit Friday as Robinson defensive end Justin Benjamin, who had made an unofficial visit to USF on Thursday after picking up a scholarship offer Tuesday, said he will now choose between Iowa State and Wake Forest.
