Last word: Heath will visit Famous on Sunday
Interesting developments in the recruiting of 6-foot-11 center Jarrid Famous, who has USF among his final options but will make an official visit to Arizona and new coach Sean Miller this weekend.
First, Arizona picked up a pair of commitments this weekend, most notably from IMG's Kyryl Natayazhko, a 6-10 Ukrainian center, but still has a scholarship available for Famous, according to Westchester Community College assistant Tyrone Mushatt. Again, Arizona has only entered his recruiting since Miller joined the Wildcats, though he was a contender for Famous when he was at Xavier. It remains to be seen if Famous and his family are comfortable with him playing that far from the Northeast.
Toward that end, Stan Heath will make a personal visit to New York to see Famous on Sunday, right after he gets home from his Arizona visit. It's well-timed, so he gets one last sell after Arizona's made its case -- there's no clear leader between the Bulls, Wildcats, Seton Hall and Missouri.
USF has a pivotal weekend ahead -- last weekend's visitors, Daequon Montreal and Glenn Bryant, will make final visits to Boise State and Arkansas, respectively, before making decisions, and USF will have center Sandi Marcius in for a campus visit as well. Heath would like to get two or three of those four to sign with the Bulls, with the depth and strength of his frontcourt next season hanging in the balance ...
