LB McKenzie signs rookie deal with Patriots
He won't play this season as he recovers from knee surgery, but former USF linebacker Tyrone McKenzie signed his rookie contract with the New England Patriots on Tuesday, a four-year deal that reportedly includes a $631,000 signing bonus.
The Boston Globe reported that bonus, as part of a contract that should be worth a total of $3.12-million. The Globe reports that "there could be some unique and creative aspects to the deal that would allow McKenzie to recoup some of the money that the injury may have cost him."McKenzie, the former Riverview standout, was a third-round draft pick of the Patriots in April after leading USF in tackles in each of the past two seasons.
