Leavitt has it easy: Calling for Bunting to quit
For all the fuss about Jim Leavitt and the media in the past two months, he has the success of a 4-2 record going for him, which puts him in a decidedly different boat from his counterpart today, UNC coach John Bunting.
With a 25-40 record and no wins against I-A opponents this season, John Bunting has certainly leapt ahead of N.C. State's Chuck Amato in the Triangle Hot Seat standings. And while his team is well ahead of a winless Duke team up the road, where coach Ted Roof is in no better standing, Bunting has the added pressure of actual expectations. One thing Leavitt hasn't had to deal with is columnists calling for his head, as Andrew Jones of the Wilmington Star-News wrote this week, suggesting Bunting resign, effective the end of the season, if his team falls to USF today, "proving another program with little or no tradition has passed it."
