Live blog: Lawson leads USF women past JU
TAMPA -- USF overcame a 13-point first-half deficit and finished strong to get past pesky Jacksonville in a 76-64 win on Sunday. Senior center Jessica Lawson had a career-high 26 points to go with 16 rebounds, and point guard Jasmine Wynne had 18 points, six assists and five steals. The Bulls trailed 62-61 with five minutes to play, but finished the game on a 15-2 run. The Bulls (7-2) trailed 39-26 with four minutes left in the first half, but finished on a 14-1 run for a tie game at halftime. "He cursed us out. I can't say exactly what he said, but he put us in our place," Lawson said. "He told us what we needed to do, and we executed." Jacksonville (1-6) got double-doubles from Crystal Grable (18 and 13) and Desarae Johnson (17-11). USF next plays Thursday at home against Tulane.
