Make it five: DE Selvie goes in 7th to Rams
USF defensive end George Selvie is the fifth Bulls player taken in the draft, going in the seventh round to the St. Louis Rams.
Selvie, a two-time All-American once projected to go much higher in the draft, joins teammates Jason Pierre-Paul, Nate Allen, Jerome Murphy and Carlton Mitchell as Bulls draft picks. Murphy and Selvie were both picked by the Rams, with Murphy going in the third round.
Selvie will have a challenge making the Rams' roster -- he was their third defensive end taken, following fifth-rounder Hall Davis of Louisiana-Lafayette and sixth-rounder Eugene Sims of West Texas A&M.
The Rams have three ends under contract -- former first-rounder Chris Long and another likely starter in James Hall, plus fifth-year Victor Adeyanju, who was primarily a reserve last season, totaling just seven tackles. Veteran Leonard Little is an unrestricted free agent and has not decided what he'll do this fall.
UPDATE: The draft is now complete, with linebacker Kion Wilson and quarterback Matt Grothe not among the players drafted. They'll be in good position to sign a rookie free-agent contract, and could be joined by other seniors like receiver Jessie Hester.
