Make it official: USF football confirms 23 signings

We'll update this post throughout the day as USF football makes its signings official -- we'll have other posts for newsy developments, but we'll log the official confirmations here as they come in from Fowler Avenue.

1:20 p.m.: Lost count somewhere along the line -- Nigel Harris is official, which puts the class at 23. Anything else from here would be a surprise addition. Looks like Taggart will have a scholarship or three or four to use on a transfer this summer, or to squirrel away for 2014. We'll have much more from Taggart's news conference at 3 p.m. ...

12:20 a.m.: Darius Tice is now official, as is Immokalee DT Deadrin Senat, which puts the class at 22 strong now. I expect Hillsborough linebacker Nigel Harris to be announced soon. USF missed out on Palm Beach TE/DE Malik Brown, who backed out of his Syracuse commitment but will sign with Tennessee.

11:30 a.m.: Updating the signings -- Bradenton Manatee DT Derrick Calloway, flipped from Louisville in a key coup for Taggart, has made it official, joining the list as No. 20. We've confirmed that Miami Northwestern RB Darius Tice has signed, and USF should announce shortly.

11:15 a.m.: Another potential big signing is a miss, as Oakland Park Northeast WR Stacy Coley announces on ESPNU that he's staying home at Miami. ...

10:40 a.m.: USF's 19th official signing is a huge one: Miami Southridge DB Lamar Robbins. Officially listed at 6-3, 188 pounds. Six defensive backs among the 19 so far, addressing a glaring need for help on pass defense ...

10:30 a.m.: Official total is now at 18 -- midyear enrollee Emilio Nadelman, the kicker from Miami Central, is confirmed, as is Tampa Freedom defensive back Nate Godwin, as well as Jeremi Hall, the 6-foot-4, 330-pound offensive lineman from Tri-Cities (Ga.).

9:45 a.m.: DB Lamar Robbins isn't official yet, but USF has confirmed the signings of two Kissimmee Osceola teammates, RB Sta'Fon McCray and DB Hassan Childs. The official total is now at 15, including the two January junior college enrollees.

9:30 a.m.: USF is up to 13 official signings -- LB Rahmon Swain and CB Torrel Safford have been on campus for a month as midyear enrollees, but they're on board, as is Plant LB Mitchell Wright and St. Pete Northeast FB/TE Auggie Sanchez. Big announcement doesn't go USF's way, as Miami offensive lineman Denver Kirkland chooses Arkansas, announcing live on ESPNU.

9 a.m.: USF has confirmed nine signings already -- QB Mike White from Fort Lauderdale University School was the first in, followed by Dominique Threatt, the versatile lineman from Georgia. Tampa WR Zach Benjamin, Countryside DE Mike Love and Jacksonville First Coast corner Darius Whitty were next. The next wave: Robinson defensive tackle Bruce Hector, Jesuit guard Cameron Ruff and Sarasota Booker defensive end Eric Mayes. Cornerback Johnny Ward from Moultrie, Ga., makes it nine.
