Men's soccer to host NCAA first-round game

USF's men's soccer team will host a first-round game in the NCAA Tournament, playing Colgate at 7:30 p.m. Friday at USF Soccer Stadium.

The Bulls drew the third-best seed among the first-round hosts, with a second-round date set with 14th-seeded Akron should USF get past Colgate.

"We don't look at the whole bracket, we just look at Colgate at home and focus on ourselves right now," coach George Kiefer said. "Every team in the tournament now is a good team. We're feeling good about ourselves in general right now and looking forward to Colgate."

The Big East had seven teams make the 48-team field, with three earning first-round byes: third-seeded Connecticut, 10th-seeded Notre Dame and 15th-seeded West Virginia. Kiefer said he had hoped an eighth team, St. John's, would have made the NCAA cut.
