September

The easiest way for me to remember sites I want to link to is to leave a browser window open on my laptop, the downside being that they pile up quickly if I'm not getting a links post up every day or so. So in offering up links, what I'm really doing is clearing out the clutter on my computer, if only for a few hours.

-- WCTV reports that Clint Trickett, the Tallahassee quarterback who had been considering an offer from USF, has committed to Florida State, where his father Rick is the offensive line coach. He said back in June that FSU wasn't an option because he didn't want to play for his dad.

-- Former USF quarterback Grant Gregory won't open the season as Kansas State's starting quarterback, having lost a close position battle to junior Carson Coffman, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.

-- Me on the radio: I did a guest spot with WNER 1410 AM in Watertown, N.Y., on Tuesday, talking USF football for the Syracuse fans up there. You can listen to it online here -- I'm 30 minutes in.

-- The Big East's official site, prevewing eight football teams in eight days, takes a look at USF, with clips of Jim Leavitt and Matt Grothe from the league's presason media day in Rhode Island.

-- USF's campus hockey team, the Ice Bulls, have a new head coach.

-- Bleacherreport.com ranks college football's "40 hottest fanbases," with USF in at No. 15.

-- The Syracuse Post-Standard's Big East preview looks at the "talent drain" from last year's teams lost in the NFL Draft.

-- USF already has a commitment from DeLand senior safety Mark Joyce, and the Orlando Sentinel writes that DeLand junior offensive lineman Trey Pettis has picked up an offer from the Bulls.

-- The Lakeland Ledger writes about USF senior running back Mo Plancher, who will start Saturday as the most trusted ballcarrier in the Bulls' backfield.

-- Sportsnetwork.com calls the USF-Wofford game "a winnable game for the FCS ranks."
