April

Former USF standout Ross Gload has been traded from the Royals to the Marlins, where he should back up Jorge Cantu at first base. Gload, 32, was batting .280 in spring training and is now headed back to the team that originally drafted him out of USF in 1997. Here's the full story from MLB.com.

-- USF coach Jim Leavitt mentioned after Saturday's scrimmage that a huge contingent of Bulls players and coaches were participating in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Tampa Walk fund-raiser at Lowry Park Zoo on Saturday. According to this page, 78 USF players and many assistants and staffers and their families participated in the walk, raising $12,400. You can make a donation to USF's effort by clicking here.

-- Big game tonight for USF's women's basketball team, playing at Boston College in the Women's NIT semifinals. We'll get a post up as soon as the game finishes tonight, but here's a thorough preview from the Boston College side.

-- The Times' Joey Knight has an update on Wesley Chapel offensive lineman Kamran Joyer, a USF signee who is setting records in weightlifting and track this spring.

-- No big revelations, but a good Q&A with USF quarterback Matt Grothe from ESPN.com blogger Brian Bennett.

-- From the Completely Random Department: Stumbled across this seemingly innocent USF women's basketball blog -- they cut-and-paste stories from newspapers and USF's official site about the Bulls. I'd say it's plagiarism, but the site does take the time to insert references to a fictional USF player named "Danielle Starzynski" in every story. Too odd to not mention ...
