National Signing LeDay: Bulls get Texas forward
As expected, USF men's basketball coach Stan Heath picked up another key recruit for his 2012-13 class on Wednesday as Zach LeDay, a 6-foot-7 power forward from The Colony, Texas, signed on the opening day of the spring signing period.
"Zach was an important signee for us," Heath said in a statement. "He fills a void on our front line losing Ron (Anderson) and Gus (Gilchrist). He's a guy that can score inside and out. He's very versatile in his game and has a great motor. We're very excited to add him to our 2012-13 class."
LeDay, who averaged 20.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, had back-to-back 30-point games in the state playoffs. He had committed with his AAU teammate, guard DeMarcus Holland, but Holland backed out of that commitment and signed with Texas instead.
LeDay is the fourth member of USF's recruiting class, joining junior college center Waverly Austin, junior college combo guard Musa Abdul Aleem and Michigan high school guard JaVontae Hawkins. Another recruit, Baltimore guard Sam Cassell Jr., is visiting USF this weekend and expected to choose between the Bulls, Maryland and Pittsburgh.
