New USF online football guide features video

USF's sports information department unveiled its new online media guide over the weekend, and it's a big step forward in terms of technology, moving away from the hard-copy media guides of old. Don't get me wrong -- I'll be printing out the records section to keep with me,  but the new guide is directed to recruits and fans as much as journalists, with tons of video highlights from games and coach-guided tours around Tampa and USF. Other notes ...

-- If the bloggers have any say, USF might be the team to beat in the Big East, as a panel of eight conference bloggers had USF edging West Virginia in its preseason poll.

-- The Times' Joey Knight has a great Q&A with former USF basketball standout Jesse Salters, now the new athletic director at Blake High.

-- The Sporting News continues to roll out its national countdown, with USF checking in at No. 32. Only Pittsburgh (No. 28) is higher among Big East schools ... TSN's Dave Curtis writes about the wide-open Big East race as well.

-- Rivals.com's Matt Hinton also writes about the Big East, with tons of links to other stories.

-- More schedule rankings -- so hard to decide whether to evaluate a nonconference schedule by its toughest games or its easiest. BCSwatch.com sees a pair of I-AA opponents for USF and gives the Bulls the league's second-easiest schedule, ahead of Rutgers, who also has two I-AAs.
