NFL draft preview: Will a USF player be picked?

25

April

The last two NFL drafts have been a huge event for USF football, with eight draft picks and a 2010 first-rounder in defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. But as another draft is set to start Thursday night, it should be a quiet year for the Bulls, with the biggest question being whether the Bulls will have any players selected at all.

The last time USF went without a draft pick was in 2006, after the Bulls' first season in the Big East, but based on a few mainstream seven-round mock drafts, there's a decent change USF might not have a draft pick. Foxsports.com's Peter Schrager put Bulls safety Jerrell Young in his seventh round at No. 236, but other seven-round mocks from NFL.com and ESPN.com (premium content) don't have any USF players being picked.

ESPN.com's positional rankings have running back Darrell Scott rated highest at his position -- he's their No. 23 running back, with 21 backs getting drafted; Young is the No. 35 safety and guard Jeremiah Warren is No. 32 at his position. Warren, who had the most career starts of USF's senior class, said Wednesday that he had a workout with the Patriots and was brought in for a visit by the Cardinals. The next closest USF player is Quenton Washington, who is ranked as the No. 45 cornerback in the draft.

We've done draft contests here on the blog in past years, having you guess where different Bulls would go in the draft, but for now, the simpler question for you is this: Will a USF player be drafted this weekend, and if so, who?
