NFL Update: Good start for Hall, Randolph
-- Hall has established himself as Denver's fastest running back, getting a note from the Denver Post on his chances to make the team behind Travis Henry and Mike Bell. The Rocky Mountain News concedes he's "a long shot" to make the roster.
-- Will the undrafted Randolph become Dante Hall's successor in Kansas City? The key may be getting through the preseason without a fumble: the Kansas City Star reports that's a team concern. Another feature from the Star shows the Chiefs nearly drafted Randolph.
-- Veteran DeMorrio Williams is already back practicing with the Falcons, reports the AJC, making it less likely that Stephen Nicholas will play a major role on Atlanta's defense.

-- At the risk of going viral here, I'll thank Mike Camunas, the Times' USF correspondent for the past two years, for this too-amusing-not-to-mention link. My readers in Pasco County know about The Laker, a free weekly paper. Check out the front page of this week's issue, just below the fold, for a pic you wouldn't expect of a USF football player. We've written a lot about walk-on Houston Hess, including a story during bowl week last year, but check out this photo gallery from Landolakesfla.com. It's pic 10 of 10 in the slideshow, and once you see it, you'll be sending friends a link. He's the ... second one from the left.
