No, really: Coaching news
Stan Heath, fired Monday after five seasons at Arkansas, spoke with USF athletic director Doug Woolard on Wednesday afternoon and will meet with him in Atlanta, possibly as early as today, to discuss the Bulls' coaching job.
"We're going to communicate (today), try to find a time and place where we can talk," said Heath, still home in Arkansas but leaving today for this weekend's Final Four in Atlanta.
Three of the four candidates who have reportedly talked with Woolard about the job -- WInthrop coach Gregg Marshall, South Alabama coach John Pelphrey and former St. John's coach Fran Fraschilla -- have said they're not longer interested in the position since Sunday. Heath was fired Monday despite a 20-win season and second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
USF is hardly the only opening in college basketball, so could Heath be meeting today with other athletic directors about other jobs?
"Possibly," he said, laughing.
