Notes: Barbosa earns first-team All-Big East honors

I'm on the way back home to Wesley Chapel, approaching the speed-trap trifecta of Starke-Lawtey-Waldo, but interrupt my trip to share news from the Big East baseball tournament, which announced the league's postseason honors tonight.

Bulls senior pitcher Andrew Barbosa is the lone USF presence on the All-Big East first team, with pitcher Derrick Stultz earning second-team honors along with outfielder James Ramsay.

And here's a link to our Big East preview for USF, which features outfielder Alex Mendez, who has emerged as an offensive leader for the Bulls, tying for the team lead in RBIs from the leadoff spot in the lineup. Mendez is just as busy off the field, as the Big East representative on the NCAA's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, sending him across the country to represent the voice of his fellow college athletes.
