Offensive shuffle: Fitch coaching QBs, Scott RBs

USF coach Skip Holtz is shuffling three offensive assistants to work with new positions in his third season with the Bulls, with offensive coordinator Todd Fitch now working with quarterbacks, as he did for Holtz at East Carolina before coming to Tampa.

Taking Fitch's spot in working with USF's running backs will be tight ends coach Larry Scott, which moves him to a more prominent position, and Peter Vaas, who had coached the Bulls' quarterbacks for the past two seasons, will now coach the tight ends.

There are no changes in responsibility or playcalling -- Fitch is still the coordinator, and Vaas actually moves to the position he worked with at Miami (Ohio) in 2009 before coming to USF. Scott, a former offensive lineman for the Bulls, is working with his third position in four seasons, having worked with the offensive line in 2009 before handling the tight ends the last two years.

So the only offensive assistant staying in the same role is offensive line coach Steve Shankweiler; USF could name a new receivers coach as early as Tuesday, with former NFL receiver Jerome Pathon, now at University of San Diego, likely to be announced.
