One more day: Taggart's first USF recruits on deck

It has been just under two months since Willie Taggart was named as USF's head football coach, and much of that time has been spent making the most of his first recruiting class.

On Wednesday, the speculation becomes (in some cases) reality, the commitments become (in most cases) signings, and we'll have the first chance to hear Taggart talk about his incoming class and the roles they might play on his first Bulls team. We should also get more details on his first coaching staff -- it'll be a busy day, from signings starting before 8 a.m., leading up to his afternoon news conference, clear to USF's men's basketball game in the Sun Dome against Marquette.

Most recruits who haven't yet announced are waiting until the spotlight of signing day, so it should be a quiet day for news. To fill that void, we'll ask you: Which uncommitted players will the Bulls get today? This isn't your wish list, so much as your realistic expectation.

There are the home-run big-name recruits, like WR Stacy Coley and OL Denver Kirkland, and there are a pair of locals in TE Travis Johnson and WR Marquez Valdes. Others, like Palm Beach DE/TE Malik Brown, will have a USF hat on the table in front of them as well. All signs point to Miami Northwestern RB Darius Tice stepping in as the second running back in the class, but he isn't confirming anything until tomorrow morning as well. That's all in addition to a solid class already committed.

Toward that end, will USF be able to keep all of its commitments? Four-star Miami defensive back Lamar Robbins is getting a late push from Louisville -- can Larry Scott close on another Miami standout? And then there is an intriguing question: Has Taggart kept a commitment or two hidden from the public? Will there be a name we haven't written or read about on USF's signing-day list? And where will QB Asiantii Woulard end up signing?

We'll have all -- OK, most -- of the answers on Wednesday, and as a reminder, it's a smart day to keep tabs on us on Twitter at @gregauman -- we'll have plenty on there throughout the day, and we'll take your recruiting questions during our usual in-game basketball live blog, too. ...
