One more scenario for Bulls
I reported in Sunday's paper that Connecticut could eliminate the Bulls from contention for the Big East tournament by winning at Rutgers on Wednesday. Not so.
USF could still get past Providence if the Bulls were to win their remaining games and Providence lose all four of their remaining games -- the two go head-to-head in one of the remaining meetings. Villanova also has six wins, but the two teams don't play, and the next tiebreaker would be which team has beaten a higher-seeded Big East team -- Villanova has wins against Georgetown, Louisville and Notre Dame, which easily trumps USF's biggest win, also against Notre Dame.
Providence has a tough game with West Virginia on Tuesday, and Syracuse at home at noon Saturday, so it's feasible they could drop both those games and keep the door cracked open for the Bulls.
