Orlando guard commits to USF women's basketball

USF coach Jose Fernandez, working on a huge 2013 recruiting class with six scholarships available, has picked up a commitment from Trimaine McCullough, a 5-foot-8 shooting guard from Orlando's Edgewater High.

"USF has always been on top of my list, since I was a freshman," McCullough said Monday. "I like the facilities, the campus, the coaches, the team, everything about it. I love it."

McCullough said she chose USF over offers from N.C. State, Pittsburgh and Alabama, among others. She missed much of her junior year recovering from an ACL injury, but recovered in time for the playoffs and is now back at full strength.

"I like shooting the ball, but I love getting to the hole," said McCullough, who said the pro player she patterns her game after most is former Rutgers standout Cappie Pondexter.

McCullough is the second member of USF's 2013 class, joining Boca Ciega's Tamara Taylor, a 5-9 guard who signed with the Bulls in 2011 and will be a sophomore this season at Gulf Coast Community College.
