Patrick earns recruiting honor from Rivals.com

8

February

USF defensive ends coach Kevin Patrick, in his first season recruiting in more than a decade, has been honored as one of the nation's top 25 recruiters by Rivals.com. Patrick, who will work a top-tier group of new defensive ends next season, was the only Big East coach to receive such an honor.

Rivals.com recognized Patrick's efforts in landing several highly touted defensive standouts, including junior college stars Jason Pierre-Paul and Jaquian Williams and Boca Ciega's Julius Forte. Patrick was part of Jim Leavitt's first staff at USF, but was out of coaching for 10 years before returning to the Bulls last spring.

Where did the top recruiters come from? Only three schools had two coaches honored -- Georgia, North Carolina and Notre Dame. The SEC had the most (six), followed closely by the ACC (5) and Big Ten (5). The Pac-10 had three, the Big 12 had just two, with Utah and Notre Dame rounding out the list.
