Pierre-Paul helps stock with unofficial 4.64 in 40
Catching up on a busy morning at the NFL combine in Indianapolis, where USF defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has solidified his position as a high first-round draft pick by running an unofficial 4.64 in the 40-yard dash, according to NFL.com's initial numbers.
Fellow defensive end George Selvie also ran Monday, and while his 40-yard time was initially reported as 4.91 seconds, a slow time for a prospect who weighed in 18 pounds less than Pierre-Paul, but NFL.com changed his time to 4.77 and 4.81 seconds.
Former USF linebacker Kion Wilson is the last of three Bulls scheduled to run the 40 today -- we should also get some weight-room numbers from cornerback Jerome Murphy and safety Nate Allen.
-- CBSsports.com has a video clip from Pierre-Paul's interview session Sunday, where he tells reporters he wants to "break records" his first year in the NFL.
-- More video of Pierre-Paul in the weight room from NFL.com at the one-minute mark of this clip. Odd to hear Steve Mariucci make a comment about JPP getting "a lot of accolades at that small college."
-- NFL.com's Vic Carucci writes about JPP in this year's class of defensive ends. "Some evaluators say they haven't seen a better speed rusher in more than a decade," he writes.
