Pitt beats USF baseball with walk-off HR
USF's baseball team had hoped its final series of the regular season could build momentum for next week's Big East tournament, but Friday's opener at Pittsburgh wasn't a good start.
The Bulls (23-30, 14-11) got their third lead of the game, 7-6, in the eighth inning, only to see Pittsburgh get a two-run walk-off home run from John Schultz in the bottom of the ninth off reliever Joe Cole for an 8-7 victory.
The game had no shortage of lead changes -- USF led 3-1, then trailed 4-3, then took the lead at 6-4, only to see Pittsburgh tie the game with runs in the sixth and seventh.
WIth the loss, USF now will have either the fifth or sixth seed in next week's tournament. Todd Brazeal had three RBIs for the Bulls, who also got solo home runs from Sam Mende and Chad Taylor.
