Plancher out, Roberts not dressed
Greetings from Raymond James Stadium, where kickoff is a little more than 80 minutes off.
The official uniform of Bulls not playing is a jersey and a pair of jean shorts, and there are notable names among those in denim. First is running back Moise Plancher, who turned up at Thursday's practice with a boot on his foot from an ankle injury, so as expected, the sophomore will not play.
Also not dressed is junior cornerback Tyller Roberts, listed as a top backup to Trae Williams. He has not had any known injuries in the preseason, so we'll update his status as soon as we know more. Others not dressing: true freshman Jerrell Young, whom coach Jim Leavitt had said he expected to play on special teams, and sophomore Ilia Petrov, who has a redshirt year available after playing sparingly last year. The three late signees from last year who joined the team in January -- defensive end David Fonua and offensive linemen Kevin McCaskill and Jeremiah Warren -- are not dressed, but they have redshirt years available, so not a big surprise.
As expected, linebacker Chris Robinson is not dressed as he recovers from an ankle injury suffered the first week of preseason practice. Linebacker Houston Hess is also out after undergoing minor knee surgery last week. Offensive lineman Sampson Genus, who like Plancher had a boot at Thursday's practice, is not dressed, but we'll give him credit for springing for khakis.
Check back for early updates ...
