Position breakdowns: All the links
Lots more to get to on this first game day -- can it really be September? -- but first I wanted to put all the position breakdowns in one post. If, somehow, you've just stumbled onto this blog and USF's football team, it's a good chance to read up on every position from top to bottom.
Some of these are are more than a month old, so transfer Morgan Riley isn't in with the kickers and former linebacker Alonzo McQueen isn't in with the defensive line. Aside from that, not much has changed. So here you go: quarterbacks, running backs, tight ends, receivers, offensive line, special teams, defensive line, linebackers and defensive backs.
-- We chose to preview tonight's game by writing how the Bulls will take the field for the first time without running back Keeley Dorsey, who collapsed and died during a conditioning workout in January. Dorsey's someone who will continue to inspire the Bulls throughout this season and beyond.
-- And if that doesn't fill your game-day reading needs, check out a good story in the Lakeland Ledger on USF commitment James Jones. Former USF quarterback Marquel Blackwell had a tough debut as Freedom High's coach, getting shut out by Wharton, according to correspondent Brendan Galella. What high school recruit turned the most heads Friday night? I'd say St. Petersburg Northeast's Jeff Brinson, who rushed for 351 yards and six touchdowns in a 40-7 win against St. Petersburg. USF has been on Brinson from the start and has a commitment from his teammate, QB/LB Armando Sanchez. If the Bulls can reel in a top running back with the freshmen they have at the position, I'll be impressed.
