Quiet weekend for USF before Sunday night
Back home from the Big East tournament, and it should be a quiet day or two until USF's basketball teams learn their pairings for their respective NITs late Sunday night.
Bulls fans can keep an eye on the conference tournaments, knowing a win here or there could shift USF's seeding in the NIT -- seems like the Bulls should host an opening-round game on Tuesday or Wednesday night in the Sun Dome, but it's hard to know how the selection committee will see the Bulls. NITology.com now has USF as a No. 2 seed, which would mean two home games if the Bulls advanced.
USF's women are less likely to host with a 15-15 record -- two years ago, when USF was 16-15 entering the postseason, the Bulls opened the NIT at Florida Gulf Coast, losing to the up-and-coming program. Florida finished 14-16, so the Gators aren't an option, but Miami, which is 17-13, is a possibility as well.
We'll have some links later and more new as it comes -- USF softball has canceled today's games in its tournament due to heavy rains, and weather permitting, USF baseball should be able to get back on with a three-game home series against Eastern Illinois.
