Report: Clemson coach to interview for LBs job

USF coach Jim Leavitt will interview Clemson assistant David Blackwell for the linebackers job on his staff, Clemson recruiting site reported Wednesday.

Blackwell, 37, now Clemson's linebackers coach, has been with the Tigers since 2003, working as linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator until this spring. When Clemson hired Kevin Steele as its new coordinator, Blackwell was moved to coaching the Tigers' defensive tackles. The site speculates that Blackwell's role at USF would include some kind of coordinator duties under newly hired defensive coordinator Joe Tresey.

Here is Blackwell's bio page from Clemson's official site. He also has experience in the Big East, having been Pittsburgh's linebackers coach from 2000-02, and has recruited the state of Florida at several coaching stops.
