Safety Lejiste practicing despite broken finger

One of my observant readers picked up on something at USF FanFest on Sunday, that sophomore Jon Lejiste, projecting as a starter at safety, had a cast on his right hand. We can confirm that Lejiste broke the fourth metacarpal on his right hand -- that's the base of the ring finger -- and is expected to play with the cast on in USF's opener against Stony Brook and wear it through the week of USF's Sept. 11 game at Florida.

Lejiste has not missed any practice time as a result of the injury -- if the Bulls were at all worried about the injury, they wouldn't be sliding senior safety Mistral Raymond over to be a starting cornerback. USF coach Skip Holtz said Sunday that his staff would meet today to tweak a new depth chart, with only minor revisions to be made between now and the opener. We'll get you the depth chart as soon as it comes our way -- last week the Bulls posted a two-deep online with a few minor changes from the lineup Holtz gave the Times on Thursday.
