Selmon tribute location set at Raymond James

A tribute location for fans seeking to place things in memory of the late Lee Roy Selmon has been established at Raymond James Stadium, the Bucs, USF and the Tampa Sports Authority jointly announced Monday.

A temporary memorial area has been reserved on the tree-shaded mound in the middle of the mass transit dropoff turnaround on Dale Mabry -- there will be signs near the pedestrian bridge crossing over Dale Mabry starting Tuesday at 5 p.m., and dropoffs may begin then and continue through the Bucs' season opener on Sunday, Sept. 11.

Selmon's family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, fans wishing to honor Selmon's memory can make donations to Abe Brown Ministries (813-248-3224) or to the USF Foundation Partnership for Athletics (813-974-2125).

Selmon, the former Bucs standout and Pro Football Hall of Famer who was USF's athletic director from 2001-04 and worked in USF's athletic department for 18 years, died Sunday at age 56, two days after he suffered a stroke.

Here is a map to the memorial location.
