Snow day: USF women home safe
USF's women's basketball team, nearly stranded in Wisconsin an extra day by heavy snow, was able to make an afternoon flight and landed safely in Tampa around 6:30 p.m. Sunday. It's one more obstacle for the Bulls to overcome as they prepare for what now looks to be an absolute must-win game in their home finale against Seton Hall.
The Bulls, who lost 75-63 at No. 19 Marquette on Saturday night, have only played two games in a three-day stretch one other time since December, and Seton Hall will come into the Sun Dome having won nine of its last 10, making a serious push to claim the NCAA at-large berth that once seemed a lock for the Bulls. If USF were to lose Monday night, they'd probably have to knock off top-seeded Connecticut in the second round of the Big East tournament next weekend to have a reasonable chance of making a return trip to the NCAAs. Win against Seton Hall, and they probably have to beat the Pirates again five days later in the conference tournament to know they're in for sure.
