Sporting News: Selvie a top-five draft pick
Again, it's just one person's opinion, but if you're a Bulls fan, it's newsworthy: This week's The Sporting News has a way-early 2009 NFL Draft mock first round, and USF junior defensive end George Selvie isn't just in the first round. He's the No. 5 pick, projected to the Kansas City Chiefs.
TSN's Russ Lande, a former NFL scout, has Selvie as the No. 2 defensive player taken, behind only Georgia Tech end Michael Johnson. He has Ohio State running back Beanie Wells going first, Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford going second, Johnson third and Alabama tackle Andre Smith fourth.
How much did the fifth pick in last year's draft get? Those same Chiefs gave LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey a six-year deal reportedly worth $51-million, including $23-million guaranteed.
There's only one other Big East player in TSN's projected first round -- Connecticut cornerback/return specialist Darius Butler, who they have 19th. The Bucs, if you're curious, take Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew in their projections.
