Spring game video highlights on USF site
Having covered the game from the sidelines on Saturday, and without Bright House at home because I'm on DirecTV, I've been looking forward to seeing video highlights from USF's spring football game. Here's a link to a three-minute highlight video on USF's official site. More clips online from this week's "Bulls Weekly" from Bright House Sports Network.
I'm helping out with our coverage of the Outback golf tournament at TPC this weekend, so might not be posting as much. Lots of calls out, lots of potential news, so keep checking back ...
-- The Orlando Sentinel again calls out USF for scheduling two I-AA opponents in football this fall. I think a lot of places will just lump the Bulls in with other schools with two I-AAs with little care for the context of why the Bulls had to schedule that. It'll be an asterisk against the Bulls all season -- AP voters will certainly be aware of it, too.
-- USF is playing host to both the Big East tennis and golf championships (men and women) this weekend, with the golf at Lake Jovita in eastern Pasco County and tennis on campus. USF's women, seeded third, were knocked off by sixth-seeded Louisville in the quarterfinals on Friday, while USF's men, also seeded third, advanced to Saturday's semifinals.
-- More draft rankings -- this site, 53deep.com, has Tyrone McKenzie as the No. 5 outside linebacker available, with Taurus Johnson as the No. 21 receiver in the class.
-- Thecollegebaseballblog.com is projected the NCAA field of 64 for baseball, and the good news is that USF is projected to make the field as a No. 4 seed in Athens, Ga. ... The bad news? They're the only Big East team in the field, so by that, the Bulls need to win the league tournament in Clearwater to get to the NCAAs. USF opened a three-game series at Villanova on Friday in Philadelphia, getting a 6-4 win, the Bulls' eighth straight in BIg East play to improve to 11-2 in conference. Here's the game story from USF.
