Stokes scores 39 off bench in Bulls' win
Even by the ridiculous high-scoring standards USF's women's basketball team has set, this is out of control.
The Bulls (9-1) put up a school-record 126 points on Thursday in a 126-62 win against Grambling State, led by a 39-point performance off the bench by junior guard Janae Stokes.
Stokes set a USF record by hitting 11 3-pointers -- in just 14 attempts -- and set a record for 3-point accuracy with more than six attempts in a game. Stokes scored 39 -- matching the second-best total in school history -- despite playing only 22 minutes. It's the third-highest total by any player in women's college basketball this season, with teammate Shantia Grace's 44-point game also in the top three.
The Bulls, who got their first votes in the AP top 25 poll this week, came in as the No. 2 scoring team in the country, and raised their scoring average above 90 points per game in the win. No Bulls player played more than 24 minutes in the win, with Grace scoring 14 points, guard Jazmine Sepulveda 17 and junior Ashley Givands adding 14.
