Streaky Bulls fall 56-48 at No. 2 Syracuse

USF's hopes for a signature upset fell short at No. 2 Syracuse on Wednesday night, as the Orange used an extended run of 26 straight points and held on for a 56-48 win to end the Bulls' four-game win streak.

USF (17-11, 10-5) cut a 14-point second-half lead to one point and twice had the ball with a chance to take the lead, but Syracuse pulled away in the closing minutes. Freshman point guard Anthony Collins had a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists, hitting his first six shots from the field.

USF opened the game with a 20-7 lead, then went more than 10 minutes without scoring as Syracuse led 36-22. USF answered again with nine straight points, but Syracuse had the last run in improving to 28-1.
