Sunday links: Less than two weeks now ...

USF's season opener against I-AA Wofford is now less than two weeks off, so there's a ton of information to share about the Bulls and their opponents. Can't decide if I want to do daily positional previews -- harder to break things down from a personnel standpoint with practice closed the past week or so. For now, here's a bunch of links to read while the Bulls take Sunday off before school starts on Monday ...

-- Rivals.com has a panel of national writers making their college football picks, with two of the five picking USF to win the Big East.

-- The Orlando Sentinel offers 10 can't-miss college football games in the state you can still get tickets for -- USF's games against Florida State and West Virginia make the cut, but somehow USF-Miami is left off. I think it's a function of trying to get all the state teams on the list ...

-- The Sarasota Herald-Tribune has more on former South Carolina receiver Joe Hills and his desire to transfer to USF this fall. He had an offer from the Bulls two years ago, but I don't know if that's enough to land one right now. By my count, USF only has seven or so scholarships unaccounted for next season ...

-- LSUfootball.net has a great chart that shows the preseason rankings from 22 different polls. USF shows up at No. 35, but that's a little skewed because the Bulls only make three of the polls, but one is that Southern Pigskin ranking that has them No. 13.

-- Soccer blog Against the Run of Play continues great coverage of USF soccer, with a writeup on USF's women's 2-0 exhibition win against Saint Leo on Saturday.

-- Another blog, The Signal Caller, has a lot of research in answering five Burning Questions about the Big East, including whether USF can find a traditional running attack to better complement Matt Grothe.

-- Nice to read a thorough, detailed media report from a college football scrimmage, like this one from Wofford, which had five interceptions in Saturday's intrasquad game.

-- We mentioned Saturday that Sal Interdonato, who covers Army for the Times Herald-Record in New York, was one of three AP voters to put USF in his preseason top 25. He blogs about his ballot here, writing that "The Big East will be better than most think, mark my words. If Rutgers didn't have question marks at quarterback and wide receiver, it would easily be a top 25 team."

-- The Tallahassee Democrat has a good story on the recruitment of quarterback Clint Trickett, son of FSU offensive line coach Rick Trickett. He's considering USF among several schools he'll visit this fall.

-- The Parkersburg (W. Va.) News and Sentinel runs through West Virginia's season, game by game, with considerable respect for USF: "Making the game a tossup is a Bulls' defense which seems tailor-made to stop WVU's spread attack. Throw in one of the premier quarterbacks in the country in senior Matt Grothe as well as a sure-to-be NFL top draft pick in defensive end George Selvie and it is easy to understand why this game could go either way."
