Surprise: USF not in top five for recruit Hargreaves
Perhaps the top target on USF's recruiting radar, Wharton cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III announced his top five schools on Friday after a whirlwhind cross-country trek of campus visits, and surprisingly, the hometown Bulls weren't among his new top five.
The Times' John C. Cotey writes that Hargreaves announced his five as Florida, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Miami and Notre Dame, though he tweeted that "USF is not in my top 5 but still considering !" His father, Vernon Jr., is USF's defensive ends and special teams coach and has coached under Skip Holtz for much of his professional career.
It's probably no coincidence that USF had a top junior college recruit on campus Friday in Nate Willis, a cornerback from Arizona Western, the same junior college where the Bulls found Josh Brown last fall.
