Three Bulls tryouts get contracts from Bucs
Five former USF players spent the weekend at One Buc Place trying to land free-agent contracts with the Bucs, and it looks like a very productive three days for the Bulls in attendance.
Defensive end Jarriett Buie said that he signed a free-agent contract after Sunday's workout, and said the same is true for tackle Marc Dile and receiver Amarri Jackson. Jackson had earned the same contract last spring but was cut in June as the Bucs prepared for preseason camp. Making the summer 80-man roster is still a far cry from making the regular-season 53-man roster, but the Bulls have taken the first step, and will report back for the first OTA (organized team activity) session.
It appears that tight end Cedric Hill and center Jake Griffin did not get contract offers from the Bucs.
With three Bulls signed as Bucs, there are now seven Bulls that have latched on with NFL teams since the NFL draft, with linebacker Tyrone McKenzie drafted by the Patriots and three others signing free-agent deals: receiver Taurus Johnson with the Chiefs, guard Matt Huners with the 49ers and guard Ryan Schmidt with the Titans.
