Three guards scoreless in loss at Seton Hall

25

February

Three guards went scoreless on the night for USF as the Bulls dropped their fifth straight game, falling 75-60 at Seton Hall on Wednesday.

Guard Dominique Jones and forward Gus Gilchrist led the Bulls with 20 points and center Alex Rivas Sanchez set career highs with 18 points and 11 rebounds, but there was little else to show for the Bulls, as the rest of the team went 1-for-15 with two points. Starting guards Chris Howard and Jesus Verdejo did not score, going a combined 0-for-7 with seven turnovers, and freshman Justin Leemow failed to score for the second game in a row, missing all three of his shots.

The difference in the game was perimeter shooting, as USF went 1-for-14 on 3-pointers, while Seton Hall went 9-for-18, led by Jeremy Hazell's 20 points. The Bulls, who have been the Big East's worst free-throw shooting team this season, went 17-for-18 at the line, hitting 94 percent.

USF (8-19, 3-12) returns home to face West Virginia on Sunday in the Sun Dome. Here's the boxscore from ESPN.com, and we'll get a link up to our full story shortly ...
