Transfer golfer Miller wins title in Bulls debut
USF's women's golf team got a promising debut from Mississippi transfer Christina Miller, who won the Golfweek Program Challenge individual title Tuesday after shooting a final round of 66 in South Carolina.
Miller showcased USF's new depth, finishing first overall at 3 under par, with another transfer, former Furman golfer Brie Heinzler, taking second among the Bulls, who finished fifth as a team. USF junior Shena Yang, who was the low finisher in all 10 tournaments for the Bulls last season, took third for USF and 29th overall.
Miller, from Bradenton, gave the Bulls their first individual title since Yang won the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge in March. The Bulls have this weekend off before competing at the Nittany Lion Invitational at Penn State next weekend.
USF's men's team finished in a tie for second in the same event in South Carolina, with freshmen Branden Collins and Trey Valentine tying for fourth individually in their Bulls debuts.
