TSN: USF defensive end Pierre-Paul 'overrated'

15

February

The build-'em-up-knock-'em-down balance of pre-draft projections is reaching a new level of balance: Yes, USF defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has had enough hype lavished upon him that he's now "overrated."

The Sporting News' Matt Hayes, running through overrated and underrated players at each position in this year's NFL draft, chooses Pierre-Paul for his overrated defensive lineman. He writes:

One season in Division I football resulted in 45 tackles and 6.5 sacks. And he could be the first end taken because he runs a 4.6 40 and has "upside." See the lunacy yet?

Hayes' underrated lineman, coincidentally, is East Carolina's Linval Joseph, another underclassmen, one recruited and developed under Skip Holtz.

Again, he still has the NFL Combine workouts, private workouts and USF's Pro Day to upgrade/downgrade his draft stock, but where's the appropriate projection for Pierre-Paul right now?
