USF alum Cherry in Olympic finals in hurdles
USF graduate Damu Cherry continues to fare well at the Olympics in Beijing, posting the second-fastest time in Monday's semifinals to advance to the finals in the 100-meter hurdles.
Cherry won her semifinal with a time of 12.62 seconds, bested only by fellow American Lolo Jones. Dawn Harper, also representing the U.S., was just behind Cherry at 12.66, giving the U.S. the top three times entering the final, which is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in Beijing (10:30 a.m. Tuesday here in Tampa). Cherry will be in Lane 7 for Tuesday's final, next to Harper.
