USF baseball routs first-place Huskies, 12-1

Promising start to a pivotal weekend for USF baseball, as the Bulls opened the final weekend at Red McEwen Field with a dominating 12-1 victory over first-place Connecticut. Starter Randy Fontanez held the Huskies to one run in seven innings for the win, and the Bulls made the most of four hits and four walks in a six-run second inning to jump out early.

USF (23-28, 14-8) play UConn (39-11, 16-5) again Saturday and Sunday afternoon -- Friday night's win clinches a spot in the Big East tournament in Clearwater for the Bulls.
