USF brings Big Ten to Tampa



USF athletic director Doug Woolard has announced home-and-home football series with Big Ten schools Indiana and Michigan State, continuing a trend of bringing teams from college football's top conferences to Raymond James Stadium.

The Bulls go to Indiana in 2009 and return in 2011, while the Spartans come to Tampa in 2012 and host the Bulls in Lansing in 2013. The Bulls have already started the first of two home-and-home series with Miami, and this fall, they'll start two-game series with Kansas and North Carolina.

“Our fans deserve these types of home and series with BCS opponents and are important for our football program as well,” USF athletic director Doug Woolard said in a statement. “Games of this caliber are beneficial to the Big East Conference and will add national exposure and recognition for the

The Michigan State game is special for Leavitt because his parents, Pierce and Lois, both graduated from Michigan State in the mid-1940s.
